Rack Lighting System (RLS)

ARCHITECTURAL & ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONSRLS

(Rack Lighting System)

The intent of the specification is to provide for furnishing and component testing of all the necessary equipment, as detailed on drawings and/or schedules, for a complete lighting control system.

The power centers shall house all dimmer modules and selected accessories and options as required.

The power center cabinets shall be manufactured in accordance with the highest electrical standards and be of free-standing construction. The frame shall be constructed of 14 gauge steel, all-welded construction. The doors, sides and top shall be 16 gauge steel. ÒUÓ channel braces shall support vertical rack rails and allow for horizontal adjustment. Front and rear panel mounting rails shall be tapped to accept 10-32 screws in accordance with the E.I.A. standard for rack cabinets. All sheet metal shall be degreased prior to priming. Primer shall be baked on and all visible surfaces painted with a light textured baked enamel finish.

Air shall be drawn into the power center cabinets through louvered door(s), and forced out through the top by an appropriately sized fan. This shall maintain the equipment at a proper operating temperature provided the maximum ambient room temperature does not exceed 40 degrees Centigrade.

The power center cabinets shall be fitted with front locking doors. They shall be mounted with lift-pin hinges for easy removal.

The power center shall contain facilities for incoming power distribution and provide properly sized terminals for line, load, and control power field connections. Each terminal shall be clearly and permanently marked. It shall be delivered fully wired and ready for installation by an electrical contractor.

The outside dimensions of the RLS power center shall be dependent upon whether a 24 inch or a 19 inch E.I.A. standard rack mount cabinet is used.

The equipment shall be a switchboard of the deadfront type intended for use in controlling lighting loads. Each module shall bear a nameplate marked with the manufacturerÕs name, electrical rating in volts and amperes, number of phases, frequency and the type designation.

The dimming equipment shall be of a solid-state design furnished in modules of twelve or six channels.

The rack will be prewired to accept any ammount of dimmer channels.

Each dimmer module shall be equipped with rack mounting ears conforming to the E.I.A. standard for rack mounted equipment. It shall be possible to remove modules without the use of any tools, except in the case of front panel rack mount retaining screws.

Circuitry shall be serviceable from the front without removal from the rack for common adjustments and service. The dimmer modules shall be integrated with the power center unit and fully wired to the other components, requiring no further wiring.

Detailed specifications covering the DPI and Genesis series dimmer packs shall be a part of these specifications and are appended hereto.

Control signals shall be either a USITT DMX 512 digital multiplex, USITT AMX 192, 5 volt time-division multiplex, or 0-10 volt DC analog.

Detailed specifications covering the control console shall be a part of these specifications and are appended hereto.

Control cable shall be supplied in sufficient quantities for proper operation of the lighting control system.

The power center shall be designed to operate at a voltage of:

    120/208 volts, 60 Hertz
    240 volts, 50 Hertz
AC, 3-phase/5-wire service with main terminal sized to a minimum of required services at the required amperes per phase. Service entry for hookup with the main terminal shall be located in the rear of each rack. The power center shall be completely wired internally and terminals of the proper rating shall be provided for all external connections. Each terminal shall be clearly and permanently marked. The dimmer load terminals and control input jacks shall be located on the rear of the dimmer modules. Power leads within each rack shall be harnessed to ensure magnetic field cancellation within each rack. Control leads shall not be harnessed with power leads. Isolation between the control and power circuits shall be electrically complete. Insulation breakdown between these circuits shall be 1500 volts RMS. No phase relationship between line and control shall be required. Control common and dimmer neutral shall be independent.

The Dimmer Rack specified herein shall be the RLS Rack Lighting System as manufactured by Teatronics Lighting Controls, Inc.
